Workplaces should be accessible for all employees
The 2018 Victorian Election is a fantastic opportunity to call upon the next government to better protect the rights of people who are blind or have low vision.
We’re putting in front of decision makers our 2018 Victorian Election Priorities (Word, 23KB), and you can help amplify the message by sharing your voice on the issues that matter to you.
Our research shows that there are many issues that matter to you, especially having access to more job opportunities.
There are many systemic barriers preventing people who are blind or have low vision and all people with disabilities from having equal and fair access into workplaces. In order to help create more employment opportunities for people with disability, workplaces must be accessible. For people who are blind or have low vision, and all people with disability, inaccessible technology and equipment within the vast majority of workplaces is a major barrier to equal access to employment.
Employees without disability are provided, by default, the equipment they need to do their jobs, however, the same provisions are not always offered to employees with a disability.
We’re urging the Victorian Government to take the lead by making public service workplaces accessible for everyone.

Contact your candidates
Send them an email or find out if they plan to be part of any public events. At these events, ask questions about how they plan to improve employment outcomes for people who are blind or have low vision.
