ivote explained

ivote has been used successfully by voters at the last two NSW State elections and replaces VoteAssist which used at the last Western Australia State election.

ivote allows you to cast your vote independently and in secret on the internet using a computer or mobile device or the keypad on a touch phone. Please note: operator assistance is not available.

How to use ivote

There are three steps involved:

1.    Register

You can register for ivote between 13 February 2017 and 10 March 2017. You can then start voting from 20 February 2017.

To register:

  • You must be on the electoral roll
  • You will need to make a declaration that you are eligible to use ivote
  • You will need to provide a 6 digit personal identification number (PIN)
  • You may need to also provide a secondary form of identification i.e. Medicare or Passport number
  • Your ivote number will be sent to you via your nominated method, e.g.SMS, email, letter, phone call.

2.    Vote

Voting is available from Monday 20 February 2017 until 6pm 11 March 2017. Remember, you need to register before you can vote.

3.    Verify (optional)

If you would like to verify your vote you can use the telephone verification service from Monday 20 February 2017 to confirm your vote has been captured correctly.

You can practice using ivote before you place your formal vote either on the internet or over the phone. There is no need to register to practice ivote.
