Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.
We’re celebrating a very special milestone this week as Vision Australia Radio marks 40 years on the airwaves.
Starting off as 3RPH in 1983, the station broadcast its first evening program from Kooyong on 22 September of that year with presenters such as Neville Kerr and Stephen Jolley behind the mic.
Stephen, who at the time was president of RPH in Victoria, expressed a great deal of excitement and optimism for the future of radio reading services such as that which later became Vision Australia Radio, to provide vital services and information for listeners with a print disability.
“It’s been a tremendous effort over the years and it’s very gratifying to know that we’ve now got to the stage where we’re in a situation where the service can really expand a lot,” Stephen said.
“I think we’ll see a big increase in the output from 3RPH, and perhaps we’ll be in a better position to tailor our programs to suit the needs of listeners with more time on air,” he said.
